The Proper Safety Equipment For Law Enforcement

Categorized: Uncategorized | No comments

People with no experience in serving in the line of duty cannot truly understand how vitally important having the proper equipment can be. However, just ask any law enforcement officer or soldier, and they can tell you. The fact is, it doesn’t matter if you are a solider who is serving at home or abroad, or a cop walking a beat in a busy metropolis, or maybe a patrol deputy in charge of a little one-horse town; you can stand proud for being among an elite class of protectors, who guard the rights of American citizens each and every day.

The duties of serving as a law enforcement officer or a military solder is very dangerous work. It is crucially important for everyone who performs these duties to be equipped with the best possible safety equipment. That means safety gear that is available today through specialty companies, one of which is the TSSI Agency. Their products are crucial to the safe execution of all these types of hazardous duties. Equipment must be well made, from a trusted source with a long history and favorable reviews.

Here is a short list of some of the equipment that people in the line of duty equip themselves with to protect themselves from injury and death:

1) Body Armor – You can find this type of specialized armor in various forms. Among the most common armor types, used mainly by law enforcement agencies, are the ‘ballistic vests’. They are also referred to as ‘Kevlar vests’. While technology changes rapidly, and a lot of these vests are now made from something besides Kevlar, the principle behind them remains the same. These are specially-made protective vests. They make them from specific materials and plastics, woven together, to provide flexibility while delivering a very hard protective covering. A ballistic vest is capable of protecting officers from almost all common firearms.

There is another type of armor that is actually an adaptation of ancient plate armor, and it is another widely used concept. The military likes this type of body armor. It differs from regular plate armor, in that it doesn’t rely on the old cumbersome metal plates (which hinder tactical movements). Instead, it makes use of ceramic plates, that are highly specialized and very lightweight. They have a great deal of protective qualities for facing a broad range of potential threats.

2) Protective Helmets – This headgear works off the same principle as do the ballistic vests and the ceramic plate armor. These pieces of protective equipment are invaluable when facing situations where a soldier or officer could potentially take blows to the head. They also come with customizable face-guards (shields), that attach to the headgear. They offer protection from threats in close quarters, like explosives or flying shrapnel. They also come with mounting brackets so additional tactical aid devices may be mounted as well.

One item that can be attached to the helmet, and has proven invaluable, is a lightsource. All law enforcement need to keep their hands free to either be prepared for combat or to carry weapons or other protective gear. The newer tactical flashlights are so bright, that they can be incredibly small and lightweight and still fully illuminate dark places.

3) Medical Kits – These are crucial to survival out in the field. Anyone serving in harm’s way, police officers, soldiers, or even people who are working in dangerous jobs like construction, need to have access to these kits. They come highly customizable to meet the needs of each specific situation, and are very advanced. They are an invaluable tool for those in the business of saving lives, like combat medics or paramedics. Anyone who is a soldier or police officer should have access to at least a basic version of these kits at all times. They can keep people alive in emergency situations, until the professionals arrive on the scene.

Most of these kits come ready with wound kits and all the associated sterile supplies. These kits can truly mean the difference between life and death when someone is on duty far from medical teams.

(4). Field Living & Support – All officers or soldiers have the potential to find themselves in life or death situations at any time. When performing their duties, they need to have the proper support equipment to handle any possible situation. A soldier out in the field needs to be fully outfitted with hydration supplements, emergency rations, and supportive electronics, to meet the demands of any arising emergencies.

This can also include things like foot and hand warmers that can be slipped inside shoes or pockets, and dynamo-powered flashlights that come with a hand crank which supplements battery power. Staying hydrated while on long treks is also extremely important for soldiers and law enforcement performing search and rescue operations in mountainous or desert regions. There are a huge number of backpacks and vests created just for carrying large amounts of water without feeling the weight.
