How We Escaped a Canadian Winter!

Categorized: Uncategorized | No comments

A Caribbean get away is the answer to those wicked Canadian winter months. You just can’t beat the interesting adventures and gloriously warm sunny skies to be found there. It was an easy decision for me and my husband to escape the harsh Canadian winter and head for the Caribbean last year. Being that this was our first time away from home during the winter, deciding where to go was not as easy as I had thought it would be. However, after I found out all the details about a Caribbean villa rental in Anguilla, aptly named Villa Paradise (VP), it made our decision easier. We were very happy with our decision, however there was no way for us to know before we visited exactly how overjoyed we would be with VP.

Outstanding Guest Services

One of the best qualities of VP was their customer service. The employees were courteous and attentive to our every need from reservation to arrival to departure. Since this was our first visit to the island, we had plenty of questions. In order to have the most enjoyable time, the concierge helped us arrange our travels around the island, making sure to point out special activities unique to the area. They really went out of their way to ensure we had no worries during our visit. We had a blast thanks to their awesome direction and care.

We only had one week to experience the best VP had to offer and there was so much to choose from. The resort staff welcomed us and showed us to our room around mid morning and we quickly settled in. The room was beyond our greatest expectations – which made it very hard to leave! But the concierge had made a reservation for us at a local spa, so off we went. The massage at the spa really loosened us up! After a long morning of traveling and adjusting to our new surroundings the spa was just what we needed to unwind. Having no children we did not need the childcare that was available, but it was nice to see that it was offered, and it makes it easier to refer our friends with children to this resort.

On our second day we exercised by playing some tennis and joining in with a hike on the heritage trail. We got a wonderful view of the area on the heritage trail. This was our opportunity to learn a lot about the culture and people of Anguilla, as well as get some fabulous shots of local landmarks. The heritage trail inspired my husband, Jim, to take us on a day trip to St. Barths as opposed to St Martin. This is where we were able to shop around and pick up a few unique and beautiful handmade items to bring home with us.

We spent the next day on the beach in the warm sun, and exploring the small, pristine island reefs. I especially enjoyed the scuba diving and snorkeling! Jim is all about fitness and was overjoyed that we could do a different physical activity each day for the rest of our stay. That was not part of my original plan, as I wanted to enjoy the sun, sand, and some tropical drinks! However, with a little coaxing from him, I found there were plenty of stimulating activities to select from. Horseback riding, bicycling and golf are just a few. I prefer anything on the water, so I voted for a horseback ride.

After all the exercise, the nearby restaurants provided us with good and delicious food, including the freshest seafood I’ve ever eaten, and a local bar on the beach gave us a chance to enjoy live music later on in the evening after we had a nap. We were able to choose meals made with local ingredients so we could really feel part of our surroundings. We had a lot of fun dancing with locales in the evenings, and later in the night we took moonlit walks along the beach, just the two of us. It seemed we’d finally, truly, found paradise, and it was by no means a cliche!

Not Expensive!

I know you must be assuming this trip drained our bank account. But it didn’t! We could not believe how affordable the prices were. The price, in addition to the gorgeous photographs, were what drew us to this top notch resort. We were able to book our reservation through their website and they responded quickly. We have no regrets at all about spending our week vacation in Anguilla. We are certain you will have just as spectacular a time as we did. If you need to relax and be left free of cell phones ringing or just escape the cold, winter doldrums, this is the place for you. Don’t wait to contact them directly or visit
